Ryan Adams is on his way to Dublin and Cork this June for two solo shows. He’ll play Cork’s Opera House on June 7 and Dublin’s Olympia on June 8.
Tickets are a pricey €50 — very expensive considering it’s just a solo acoustic show, the economic climate here in Ireland and the hit-and-miss nature of Adams as a live performer.
Remember, this is the guy who got booed off the Olympia stage in around 2003 after playing a set comprised almost solely of new songs from the then un-released Rock n’ Roll album. I think he maybe played one song that the audience could have known, and that was an early b-side.
Saying that, the last time I saw him — at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre — he was immense and played a near-perfect set. It was one of the best gigs I was ever at.
Tickets for his Irish dates go on sale next Friday.
