After attending The Rolling Stones’ startling set in Croke Park earlier this month I was struck by the scarcity of teenagers and twentysomethings in the stadium. One of the greatest rock music bands of all time were performing possibly their last ever Irish show. And yet it looked like they weren’t pulling in even the most curious of young rock music fans.
I’ve noticed this quite a lot at recent rock shows here and abroad. Rock’n’roll may never die, but it seems to certainly be fading in relevance for a new generation.
I wrote about this for The Times Ireland Edition.
