Album review: Constant Supply – Isn’t Life Great?

October 20, 2019

Constant Supply
Isn’t Life Great?
(What? Exactly! Records)

Out on the edges is where you’ll often find the weird and wonderful. So it is with Constant Supply, the Donegal quartet championed by veteran BBC radio DJ Steve Lamacq.

Their third album sees them fuse fizzy synths, sampled sounds and off-kilter time signatures with choppy guitars and, on The Misanthropic Phase, sax solos.

At 55 minutes, it can feel a little indulgent, but the record’s 11 tracks are anchored by melodies strong enough to withstand the band’s most experimental tendencies.

Indie pop at its most imaginative.
