Review: Soda Blonde – Small Talk

August 2, 2021

SODA BLONDE
Small Talk
(Velveteen)

If it was a surprise to see most of Little Green Cars reconvene under this new guise after their split in 2019, it’s a move that has proved inspired. ‘Small Talk’ conclusively marks the start of a new chapter for four of that five-piece as they veer in a more vibrant, pop-orientated direction than previous. Faye O’Rourke’s melancholic songs of self-discovery come alive in the pulsing rhythms and buoyant beats of her bandmates, from the meticulously arranged Tiny Darkness to the subtle groove of Try. An exciting first step.
